On a daily basis, the skin's barrier is exposed to a variety of insults - both voluntary and involuntary - that can compromise its integrity due to partial or complete denuding of the epidermis. This product is specifically formulated for skin recovering from cosmetic procedures ranging from microdermabrasion to laser resurfacing, as well as, skin sensitized by retinoid therapy or harsh environmental aggressors. This therapeutic treatment is designed for compromised, sensitive or dry skin . This product modulates wound healing, strengthens the skin's self protection mechanism, helps prevents infections, accelerates renewal rate of stratum corneum, and promotes the rate of cell renewal in the skin. In skin treated with beta-1-3-glucan, the renewal rate was 30% greater than in untreated skin, thereby supporting both the post-procedure recovery of skin, as well as, assisting in maintaining the results. This product also soothes skin and reduces discomfort sensations, such as stinging and erythema, that can occur when skin is exposed to environmental chemicals, surfactants, or sensitizing ingredients such as AHA's or retinoids.This product is clinically shown to greatly diminish redness and soothe irritated skin while the cosmetically elegant texture encourages daily use, especially during the critical healing period following rejuvenating procedures.

Background
Our skin is exposed to a variety of insults that can cause irritation, skin barrier disruptions and, in more acute cases, wounding due to partial or complete denuding of the epidermis. Barrier defects are most often caused by environmental chemicals, AHA and retinoid treatments, soaps and surfactants, exposure to very acidic pH levels, and much more. Wounding or tissue injuries can be the result of involuntary actions such as cuts or scrapes, or voluntary actions such as chemical peels or ablative procedures. By re-establishing the balance of lipids, fatty acids, and cholesterol that make up the barrier, disruptions in the skin barrier system can be effectively remedied. More time however is required for wound healing, which involves a complex and very specific cascade of cellular events that result in resurfacing, reconstitution, and restoration of the skin and its tensile strength.

Directions:
Apply a thin, even veil to the entire face or affected areas and massage very lightly for approximately 5 to 10 seconds. Re-apply as often as needed to keep skin feeling moist. Note: Can be applied immediately following procedures such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and IPL. Usage followin g sensitizing procedures such as laser resurfacing should be directed by the treating physician and/or skin care professional.
